Parameters
- small – "yes" if the banner should be rendered in its miniature size; this should be used sparingly and only on crowded talk pages for the time being. Consider using {{WikiProjectBannerShell}} instead for talk pages which have multiple project banners.
- class – a rating of the article's quality; see the assessment department for more details. Categories and Templates are automatically assessed by this template. Options are:
-
- FA for articles which are Featured articles
- FL for articles which are Featured lists
- A for articles which are A-Class
- GA for articles which are Good Articles
- B for articles which are B-Class. This will only work if the "b1" through "b6" criteria are also used and each marked with "yes"
- C for articles which are C-Class
- Start for articles which are Start-Class
- Stub for articles which are Stubs
- List for articles which are Lists
- Book for articles which are Wikipedia:Books
- Dab for articles which are Disambiguation articles
- NA for articles which are Not Articles (such as project articles).
- importance – Top, High, Mid, Low, None. Descriptions of the options can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Japan/Assessment.
- needs-attention - "yes" if the article needs immediate attention for one reason or another
- needs-infobox - "yes" if the article needs an infobox added to it
- listas - fill in if the article needs to be sorted in categories some way other than using the article title. For example, Talk:Izumi Takemoto would have this parameter completed using Takemoto, Izumi because the article should be sorted by the family name.
Up to eight prefectures can be specified for locations where a photo might be obtained:
- pref-photo - Enter the name of the prefecture (e.g.,
|pref-photo=Hiroshima) to indicate a photo is requested for this location in Hiroshima Prefecture. Be sure to use correct capitalization (i.e., "Hiroshima" not "hiroshima"). - pref-photo-2 - Enter the name of an additional prefecture (e.g.,
|pref-photo-2=Aichi) to indicate a photo is requested for this location in Aichi Prefecture. Be sure to use correct capitalization (i.e., "Aichi" not "aichi"). - pref-photo-3 - Enter the name of an additional prefecture (e.g.,
|pref-photo-3=Kyoto) to indicate a photo is requested for this location in Kyoto Prefecture. Be sure to use correct capitalization (i.e., "Kyoto" not "kyoto"). - pref-photo-4 - Enter the name of an additional prefecture (e.g.,
|pref-photo-4=Aomori) to indicate a photo is requested for this location in Aomori Prefecture. Be sure to use correct capitalization (i.e., "Kyoto" not "kyoto"). - pref-photo-5 - Enter the name of an additional prefecture (e.g.,
|pref-photo-5=Tokyo) to indicate a photo is requested for this location in Tokyo. Be sure to use correct capitalization (i.e., "Kyoto" not "kyoto"). - pref-photo-6 - Enter the name of an additional prefecture (e.g.,
|pref-photo-6=Kōchi) to indicate a photo is requested for this location in Kōchi Prefecture. Be sure to use correct capitalization (i.e., "Kyoto" not "kyoto"). - pref-photo-7 - Enter the name of an additional prefecture (e.g.,
|pref-photo-7=Osaka) to indicate a photo is requested for this location in Osaka Prefecture. Be sure to use correct capitalization (i.e., "Kyoto" not "kyoto"). - pref-photo-8 - Enter the name of an additional prefecture (e.g.,
|pref-photo-8=Fukuoka) to indicate a photo is requested for this location in Fukuoka Prefecture. Be sure to use correct capitalization (i.e., "Kyoto" not "kyoto").
You can also specify a person or group of people needing a photo, or a generic need for a photo for an article which is not about a person/group or a specific location:
- person-photo - "yes" if the article about a person or group of people needs a photo.
- photo - "yes" if the article needs a photo, but the article is not about a specific location or a person (or persons in the case of a group)
B-Class checklist (only visible for articles rated "B-Class" or "C-Class"—see the assessment department for more details):
