Usage

Place this on the talk page of relevant articles:

{{WikiProject Olympics |class= |importance= |listas= |small= |Paralympics= |Olympic Bids= }}

Other parameters are available; these are described later.

{{WikiProject Olympics}} is a talk page template that is used as a shortcut to other pages in the WikiProject. It is also used as a way of assessing articles. You should supply the correct assessment when you add this template to a talk page.

For example, for a normal article you have six choices on how to use this template:

Code Description Consensus
{{WikiProject Olympics|class=Stub}} Stub-Class article Stub  Anyone can add this to a talk page without any approval process
{{WikiProject Olympics|class=Start}} Start-Class article Start  Anyone can add this to a talk page without any approval process
{{WikiProject Olympics|class=B}} B-Class article B  Anyone can add this to a talk page without any approval process
{{WikiProject Olympics|class=GA}}  GA  To add this to a talk page, the article must pass the Good article approval process
{{WikiProject Olympics|class=A}} A-Class article A  To add this to a talk page the article must pass A-Class approval process
{{WikiProject Olympics|class=FA}} Featured article FA  To add this to a page, the article must pass the Featured article approval process

Some pages in the main space are not articles, but have special purposes. Use these parameters for such articles:

Code Description Use
{{WikiProject Olympics|class=NA}}  NA  Add this to the talk page of pages that are not articles, such as navigational lists.
{{WikiProject Olympics|class=Dab}} Disambiguation page Disambig  Add this to the talk page of a disambiguation page.

Other pages have parameters for class:

Code Description Use
{{WikiProject Olympics|class=Category}} Category page Category  Add this to the talk page of Categories.
{{WikiProject Olympics|class=Template}}  Template  Add this to the talk page of Templates along with template documentation.

Optional parameters

  • class – see the project's quality scale for details.
  • importance – see the project's importance scale for details.
  • listas – This parameter, which is the equivalent of the DEFAULTSORT sortkey that should be placed on all biographical articles, is a sortkey for the article talk page (e.g. for Pierre de Coubertin, use |listas=Coubertin, Pierre de so that the talk page will show up in the C's and not the P's of the various assessment and administrative categories). This is important because it is one source used by those who set DEFAULTSORT on the article; consider also setting the DEFAULTSORT for the article when setting this parameter. For more information about this, please see Wikipedia:Categorization of people#Ordering names in a category.
It is not required if another WikiProject template on the same page has its own |listas= set.
  • small – set |small=yes to display a small version of the template aligned along the right side of the page (as opposed to at the top). This parameter does not work as expected if the banner template is enclosed in {{WikiProjectBannerShell}} or {{WikiProjectBanners}}.

Task forces

Peer review

  • peer-review – set |peer-review=yes if the article is currently undergoing a peer review, or to request that the peer review process for this page should be begun.
  • old-peer-review – set |old-peer-review=yes if the article has had a peer review which is now archived.
  • peer-review-title – if the peer review page exists but is not at Wikipedia:WikiProject Olympics/Peer review/{{SUBJECTPAGENAME}}, set this parameter; i.e. if the peer review page is Wikipedia:WikiProject Olympics/Peer review/Foobar, set |peer-review-title=Foobar

Special parameters

  • auto – This parameter is for the use of bots and indicates that the article has been automatically rated:
    • |auto=length – based on the length of the article
    • |auto=inherit – because one or more other projects use this class
    • |auto=yes (or |auto=stub), in conjunction with |class=stub – as Stub-Class because it uses a stub template
  • category – set |category=no if, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.
