Usage

The {{WikiProject Russia}} project banner template should be added (not subst:ed) to the talk page of every article within the scope of the project. While the template does not require any additional parameters, it has a number of optional ones that add various extra features to the banner. The full syntax is as follows:

{{WikiProject Russia
|class=
|importance=
|small=
|auto=
|attention=
|unref=
|mapneeded=
|mapdetails=
|imageneeded=
|imagedetails=
|needs-infobox=
|needs-cyrillic=
|notaskforce=
<!-- B-Class checklist -->

Parameters

  • class – see the project's quality scale for details.
  • importance – see the project's importance scale for details.
  • auto – This parameter is for the use of bots and indicates that the article has been automatically rated:
    • |auto=length – based on the length of the article
    • |auto=inherit – because one or more other projects use this class
    • |auto=yes (or |auto=stub), in conjunction with |class=stub – as Stub-Class because it uses a stub template
  • small – set |small=yes to display a small version of the template aligned along the right side of the page (as opposed to at the top). This parameter does not work as expected if the banner template is enclosed in {{WikiProjectBannerShell}} or {{WikiProjectBanners}}.
  • listas – This parameter, which is the equivalent of the DEFAULTSORT sortkey that should be placed on all biographical articles, is a sortkey for the article talk page (e.g. for Dmitri Shostakovich, use |listas=Shostakovich, Dmitri so that the talk page will show up in the S's and not the D's of the various assessment and administrative categories). This is important because it is one source used by those who set DEFAULTSORT on the article; consider also setting the DEFAULTSORT for the article when setting this parameter. For more information about this, please see Wikipedia:Categorization of people#Ordering names in a category.
It is not required if another WikiProject template on the same page has its own |listas= set.
  • category – set |category=no if, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.

B-Class checklist

This is available only for unrated articles and articles rated as "Stub-Class", "Start-Class", or "B-Class". See the assessment department for more details.

With any of these classes, the banner will automatically display directions on how to use these parameters.

For an article to qualify for B-class it must meet 5 points. Each one of these points has a corresponding banner variable. For each of these points, assign "yes" if the standards are met, and "no" if not. Leave blank if uncertain.

  • B-Class-1 (or b1) – Is the article suitably referenced, and are all major points appropriately cited?
  • B-Class-2 (or b2) – Does the article reasonably cover the topic, and not contain major omissions or inaccuracies?
  • B-Class-3 (or b3) – Does the article have a defined structure, including a lead section and one or more sections of content?
  • B-Class-4 (or b4) – Is the article free from major grammatical errors?
  • B-Class-5 (or b5) – Does the article contain appropriate supporting materials, such as an infobox, images, or diagrams?
  • The parameters |b1= to |b5= are recognised as aliases for |B-Class-1= to |B-Class-5=. If both |B-Class-1= and |b1= are present, |b1= is ignored; similarly for the other four pairs.

Project work parameters (set them to "yes" to include them)

  • attention – set |attention=yes if the article needs immediate attention from experienced editors. Use only if another parameter does not cover the need for attention.
  • unref – set |unref=yes if the article lacks references.
  • notaskforce - set |notaskforce=yes if no existing task force includes the article in its scope.

Miscellaneous maintenance parameters (set them to "yes" to include them)
