Template:X desktop environments and window managers
The general layout is three groupings from "complete/heavyweight" on the left to "minimal/lightweight" on the right, alphabetized in each section. (This does require some subjective determination by the editor. Please try to achieve consensus if there is disagreement.) Individual items are separated by a middle dot, sections separated by a line break. Please try to keep it organized.
In an effort to remove from the subjectivity of classification, review the following guidelines. A DE/WM may not necessarily exhibit all the distinctives in any of these categories.
- Desktop environments
- Full-featured: many dependencies, large toolkit, many customization options, many visual effects, many bundled applications
- Mid-range: less then full-featured, more then lightweight
- Lightweight: modular design, few dependencies, lightweight UI toolkit, little customization, few or no visual effects, few bundled applications
