[edit] Regnal numbers?

I'm curious about the use in this list of numbers, e.g. "William IV of Melton". I haven't seen this usage elsewhere, and their Wikipedia articles don't generally seem to use the numbers, except in the case of the bishops with exactly the same name (e.g. Thomas I and Thomas II). Is there a precedent for the use of numbers for bishops? TSP 17:10, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

I wondered about this too when I updated the template, so I'm going to remove them... if anyone feels this is inappropriate, please revert! PMJ
Well, I've done it, left in the Saxon bishops' numbers as there's no other way of updating them. Changed Thomas I of York to Thomas of Bayeux and Thomas II of York to Thomas of York also, Cardinal Wolsey to Thomas Wolsey for consistency. PMJ
