Suggestions[edit]

I suggest adding apples App Store and the Android Marketplace Mathiastck (talk) 19:29, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Actually I think it's called Android Market. SharkD (talk) 20:16, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
Added wiki link to your comment. By the way, you can edit the page yourself. --Lightsup55 ( T | C ) 02:49, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Browser games[edit]

I added this section, but later became unsure whether it was appropriate. While they are in fact technically "distributed" online, these games are not meant to be played offline, AFAIK. SharkD (talk) 21:10, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Category[edit]

Add so you can chose an category to show while hide the others. Like {{Digital distribution platforms|category=Music}} -- Frap (talk) 20:05, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Removal of Dead Services[edit]

Anyone have any objection to removing some of the services that are no longer operating, such as Walmart, imeem and Amie Street? --ThatsNotFunny (talk) 20:37, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

Good plan; I'll remove dead services from the list. SebastianWolff (talk) 02:36, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

Music categories/Notability[edit]

There's a large mixture of music-related services currently being listed: record labels, music storefronts, streaming platforms, social networks, aggregation services, and actual platforms that provide music distribution as a service. Is it worth differentiating?

What about notability -- not necessarily WP:COMPANY -- but a guideline for a service to be added in the template? SebastianWolff (talk) 02:42, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

Why single out Ubuntu's apt-get frontend?[edit]

Many, if not most, linux distributions have "digital distribution" of precompiled packages (and sources), usually with graphical frontends for them. Why not include Window's "component wizard" and updates (may be also called "software center") as well? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.249.83.101 (talk) 07:29, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

Split out[edit]

Becoming far too big and unambiguous. It should be split to four separate infoboxes so it is easier to manage e.g. Template:E-book distribution platforms, Template:Music distribution platforms, Template:Video distribution platforms, Template:Game Software distribution platforms. Discontinued merged with applicable template above.--Vaypertrail (talk) 23:12, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

I agree. The box has far too many entries. It will take the average person five minutes to find what he or she seeks. Syek88 (talk) 11:03, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
Me too. I took me a minute to find Dailymotion and YouTube. Stranger195 (talk) 09:35, 5 May 2015 (UTC)
Agreed, per reasons above.—Totie (talk) 02:05, 6 May 2015 (UTC)
Support, far too large and unmanageable. Average reader would not be able to use it quickly or efficiently to find what they may be looking for ThirdWard (talk) 21:57, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
Strong Support. There's no need for one giant template linking together all these diverse forms of media. Robofish (talk) 22:32, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
Support, per all the above.--Cattus talk 17:30, 22 May 2015 (UTC)
