The hack for the Musicians section is quite broken in my browser (Firefox). The HTML spills raw across the top of the article. Viewing source shows that each < and > is replaced by < and > etc. Is this something fixable in my preferences? Is anyone else seeing this? --mordemur 11:28, 20 Jan 2005 (UTC)

It seemed that something changed behind the scenes. I fixed the syntax to use subtable, looks OK now. --Lexor|Talk 12:28, Jan 20, 2005 (UTC)
I am using IE, and now the box looks worse than it did before. Andros 1337 03:25, 21 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Looks fine to me, can you post a screenshot? (under both Linux and Windows using Firefox). this version did not work with Firefox under Windows. --Lexor|Talk 11:45, Jan 21, 2005 (UTC)

Style v cultural origins[edit]

What is the difference between 'stylistic origins' and 'cultural origins'? Is it not true to say that the 'jazz style' is informed by West African music? I propose these sections of this template be merged TreveXtalk 16:28, 25 September 2005 (UTC)

Stylistic origins is supposed to be the musical styles, cultural origins is the time and place. Tuf-Kat 16:36, 25 September 2005 (UTC)

Jazzbox template[edit]

Should there be a template for Jazzbox that looks like this:

Stylistic origins Blues, Folk, March, Ragtime
Cultural origins Early 1910s New Orleans
Typical instruments
Fusion genres
Regional scenes
Local scenes
Other topics
This looks good, but I don't think we need the <small> since it causes the text to be very small. Also, we can use standard bullet lists here, since the hlist format is supported by the template. I went ahead and made the changes. Thank you. (talk) 14:02, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

There are no links in the template to musicology, such as jazz harmony, jazz chord, chord progression etc 1Z (talk) 15:37, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Interesting. (talk) 14:03, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

I replaced the use of the Jazzbox template with a Infobox music genre template on the Jazz page, as that is how every other music genre page is handled. The Jazzbox template still exists here for reference since some information was omitted, notably the list of Jazz Musicians. A less notable exception is the "Mainstream popularity" as that field has already been discussed and removed on the Infobox Talk page. I also removed a duplicate link to Jazz fusion from the derivative forms list, since it already existed under the fusion genres section. Eleventythree (talk) 08:20, 25 January 2014 (UTC)

Makes sense to me. I'm guessing it's possible to simply replace the code in this template with {{Infobox music genre}} and the relevant parameter values. (I've also left a notice at WT:JAZZ.) -- Gyrofrog (talk) 17:20, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
