Official?[edit]

What makes these official national symbols? Some of them are obvious, like the flag and national anthem, but what makes Mt. Rushmore or the Statue of Liberty an official national symbol, as opposed to, say, the Capitol or Golden Gate Bridge? And I would think the military songs might be official to each branch, but are they "national"? Yankee Doodle is official in Connecticut, according to the article, but I see nothing about national. And what is the "My flag" redlink about? Station1 (talk) 23:01, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

I agree, isn't the rose and the oak more associated with UK national symbols? 2.97.171.188 (talk) 19:26, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

I agree the "official" part may be a bit much, but it looks better after editing on the finished pages.Zack5014 (talk) 08:32, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
