Removal of flags [edit]

I have removed the flags from this template, per MOS:FLAG. It is not necessary to add an icon next to a country to be able to identify it, and such things act as flypaper for Wikipedia's contingent of nationalist edit warriors. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 22:30, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

Flag icons are often used as an aid to visual navigation when you have a long list of countries, and MOS:FLAG doesn't say anything about this particular situation either way beyond "purely decorative icons should still have a useful purpose in providing navigational or layout cues outside of article prose" and "If the use of flags in a list, table or infobox makes it ... controversial, it is better to remove the flags even if that makes the list, table or infobox inconsistent with others of the same type where no problems have arisen". But there's other ways to resolve this controversy besides removing all the flags. The only problematic flag in the entire list was the Irish one, which could have been solved by protecting this template, or taking action against the two editors involved. In the mean time, I've removed the breakdown for the constituent parts of the United Kingdom (we don't give such a breakdown for any other country in the whole template, even Russia with its 21 autonomous republics); will wait for the opinions of other editors about the flags (which would then not include the problematic Northern Ireland flag anyway). My opinion is that We shouldn't do a disservice to readers merely because a few editors can't play nice. cab (talk) 00:58, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Overcrowding of images in the infobox [edit]

Too many images in infobox crowding out the article's first paragraph and subsequent sections. Its ruining the article layout. Either reduce the images or remove them all together as it is meant to be a supplement to the article piece not the front page. --Takamaxa (Talk) 05:15, 17 April 2011 (UTC)

both Lee Kwan Yew and Lee Hsien-Loong? [edit]

I think only one of them in the representative photographs would be enough, to make space for another representative. – Kaihsu (talk) 16:54, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
