Global[edit]

Remember, this is a global timeline. Just because a particular model wasn't available in a particular year in your particular country, that doesn't mean it was no longer made. This timeline was copied from the Template:Modern Japanese Market Toyota cars. Japan tends to have all models that Toyota ever made, so it is probably the best basis for a global timeline. Calendar years[edit]

The years are the middle of calendar years, not US style model years. Dates represent the calendar year at which a model starts. So if a model X is produced from Oct 1994 to Oct 1997 and is replaced by model Y from Oct 1997 to Oct 1999 then X is listed as 1994/1995/1996 and Y is listed as 1997/1998. Which means the 2009 column should not be filled out while we are still in 2008. The 2009 column is for models introduced halfway through 2009. Models introduced in 2008 belong in the 2008 column, even though production is likely to continue for the early part of 2009. Stepho-wrs (talk) 05:42, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Some missing models[edit]

Toyota Avalon/Pronard is one of the missing models on this time line. Wfrmsf (talk) 06:31, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, there's heaps of missing models - mostly American. The timeline used on most articles is for American cars. I found a Japanese timeline (Toyota released nearly every single model in its home market) and tweaked it a little to make this global timeline but never really got around to adding in the purely American models. Feel free to add them in.  Stepho  (talk) 08:29, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
