[edit] Needs photo
I had this edit made via a request, and I see it has been changed to |needs-infobox-cover (from |needs-photo) to be consistent with Template:NovelsWikiProject. But you can want other photos from a book besides just the cover. For example, The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals by Darwin needs both a cover photo and some photos from the book (which is PD, of course; this doesn't apply so well to non-PD books). So I think a 'needs-photo' should be used instead of or as well as a 'needs-infobox-cover' (probably as well). Richard001 (talk) 03:57, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, having now noticed it says 'It is requested that an infobox cover picture or pictures be included in this article to improve its quality', I basically withdraw my comment. Richard001 (talk) 08:28, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit]
I made a navflag for this project {{Books portal}}...though I considered "BooksPortal"...I could not find a standard, but Tennis just redirected one to the other. Could someone add the flag to this page? (replacing the Portal|Books|(image) at the top...)Mjquin_id (talk) 00:54, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
[edit] New version of template
I've got an updated template at Template:WPBooks/sandbox which uses WPBannerMeta. Any objections to using it? -- WOSlinker (talk) 08:52, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

- Could the sandbox version be copied over to the main template. Thanks. -- WOSlinker (talk) 19:24, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Edit Req
{{editprotected}} Could template be changed to use {{pagetype|{{{class|}}}}} & new QUALITY_SCALE settings as per the edits in the sandbox. Thanks -- WOSlinker (talk) 23:23, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Wording Update
{{editprotected}} Requested edit to implement the changes in the sandbox[1] which expand the wording a bit and add flags to better handle the different classes (so it will no longer call a template or Wiki talk page an article, for example). Based on {{Films}}, and updated to use the Class switches as well. Tested in several project spaces and all seems good. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 13:38, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
- I've made a few changes to your sandbox. Can you check if they are acceptable? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 13:52, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
- (EC) I think I prefer the class method over the pagetype as it is more specific, i.e., calls a cat a cat, a template a template, etc, where pagetype just calls it all a page unless its an article. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 13:56, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
- I don't think that's right. If you look at the top of this page it says "This template ..." — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 14:00, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
- Hmmm...maybe pagetype also looks at the article space? I was testing just by changing the class? -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 14:02, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, indeed. The namespace takes precedence over what the class parameter. (Because even if you type
|class=Aon a template, it's still a template!) — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 14:04, 7 May 2010 (UTC)- Ah cool. Hadn't heard of that before. I feel old ;-) Changes are fine with me then :-) -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 14:05, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

- Just seen your edit summary. It is deliberate that the word "article" is used on the template itself, as the template then shows what it will actually look like on the majority of uses. However if you try it on a template talk page, "template" will be used. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 13:54, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, I reverted myself to test and it was fine, but see note above. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 13:56, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
Done. If you have any further suggestions for improvements to {{pagetype}} by all means take it to Template talk:Pagetype. Cheers — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 14:08, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
[edit] Funny when small = yes
There is a funny with the template when parameter |small= yes (or anything other than "no"/blank). The banner box is rendered in small and floated right (as intended), but the text "yes" appears immediately after the title. The text is still "yes" even when parameter |small= dummy. (The text "yes" does not appear after the title when the banner is non-small.) You can see this on the doc page at Template:WikiProject_Books/doc#Example 2: Full.
