TestYourVoIP was a free web service ran by Brix Networks that allowed testing of internet connections to see how well it will perform when used for VoIP calls. The tests were performed using Java to allow easy testing with little local setup. As an alternative the site offered a "Golden Phone" test which can be placed from any telephone or VoIP program or device that can place a call over the normal phone network. There were various test locations in the US and worldwide.
The site gave the International Telecommunications Union standard "Mean Opinion Score" (MOS) for a call. It also showed what factors caused the MOS to be reduced. This helped with diagnosis of bad calls.
The site closed down on September 14th, 2009.[1]
