Texas District 3 of the United States House of Representatives is a Congressional district that serves a suburban area north and northeast of Dallas. It encompasses a large portion of Collin County including McKinney, Plano, and Frisco, and from 2003 to 2013 the northeast corner of Dallas County including parts of Garland and Rowlett. As of the 2000 census, District 3 represents 651,620 people who are predominantly middle-to-upper-class (median family income is US$74,314, compared to $50,046 nationwide). As of 2008, 58.83% of residents in District 3 are White (non-Hispanic), 22.87 are Hispanic or Latino (of any race), 11.29% are Asian, and 9.69% are Black or African American.[1] The current Representative from District 3 is Sam Johnson and has been since 1991.

After redistricting in 2012, all of Dallas County has been removed, putting the district entirely within Collin County.[2]
