Thủ Đức is an urban district (quận) in the northeast of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. As of 2003 the district had a population of 259,151.[1] The district covers an area of 48 km².[1]

In 1997, the southern part of Thu Duc was divided to become District 2 and District 9. Thu Duc district currently has 12 wards: Linh Đông, Linh Tây, Linh Chiểu, Linh Trung, Linh Xuân, Hiệp Bình Chánh, Hiệp Bình Phước, Tam Phú, Trường Thọ, Bình Chiểu, Bình Thọ, Tam Bình.
Thu Duc was the site of a military academy for training Army of the Republic of Vietnam officers during the existence of South Vietnam.
Prominent sites consist of: Song Than station, Binh Trieu station, Song Than industrial park.
Thủ Đức is famous for its culinary speciality nem Thủ Đức, a sour and sweet fermented pork wrapped in banana leaves and tiger claw leaves.
