The Burning World is an album by the American rock band Swans. It was released in 1989 on Uni Records, and it was its only major label release and only album featuring production by Bill Laswell.
The album reputedly sold 5,000 copies in the UK [2] and the band was dropped by MCA/Uni not long afterward. In 2011 Michael Gira said, "I abhor that record. Bill Laswell is a very good producer, but we didn't mesh well. I was intimidated and sang in this cramped, monotone way. It didn't sell, and we got dropped." [3]
