The Co-operative Electrical
|Type||Industrial and Provident Society, business of a Consumer Co-operative|
|Parent||The Co-operative Group|
The Co-operative Electrical is the trading name of Co-operatives E-Store Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Co-operative Group, based in Manchester. Established in 2001, customers can earn a share of the profits in proportion to purchases through The Co-operative Membership scheme.
Major appliances and large-screen televisions (40" and above) are delivered from distribution centres in Barnsley, Selkirk and Luton, free of charge, and can arrive next day. Customers select a preferred delivery date when placing smaller orders; the carrier then contacts them via text message on the morning of delivery to provide a 60 minute time slot.
A co-operative is a business, but it also acts together to meet the common needs and aspirations of its members, sharing ownership and making decisions democratically. Co‑operatives are not about making profits for shareholders, but creating value for their members. The top priority is to provide the best possible services for members and to invest in the communities where they live. This gives co‑operatives a unique character and influences what they stand for.
Members of The Co-operative Group and participating regional societies earn one membership point for every £1.00 spent at The Co-operative Electrical. Points are converted into dividend at a rate agreed annually by the Board.
