"The Diamond Sea" is a song by Sonic Youth, released as the first single from their 1995 album Washing Machine. The song has also been covered by Yeah Yeah Yeahs and can be found on their iTunes Session EP.

The radio edit of this song is significantly shorter than the version that appears on the album (which is 19:35), but the alternate version is over six minutes longer than the album version. This longer version also appears on the vinyl LP version of Washing Machine as well as the compilation The Destroyed Room.

The video for The Diamond Sea was directed by Spike Jonze, Lance Bangs, Dave Markey, Steve Paine, and Angus Wall. The video compiles live footage from their headlining tour dates on the 1995 Lollapalooza tour.
