Coordinates: 13°43′51″N 100°34′08″E / 13.7307°N 100.5689°E The Emporium is a luxury shopping mall in Khlong Toei district, Bangkok , Thailand, which opened in 1997. It is owned and operated by The Mall Group and another huge mall, Siam Paragon.
It is located on Sukhumvit Road at Sukhumvit Soi 24 beside Queen's Park and connected directly to the Phrom Phong Station on Sukhumvit Line of the BTS Skytrain by a footbridge. It is owned by the same company as Siam Paragon and its direct competitor is Central Group. Both companies along with hypermarket operators Carrefour, Tesco Lotus, and Big C (the latter partially owned by Central Group) have turned Bangkok into a mall heaven, boasting a combined hundred locations.
Along with The Emporium department store, the mall contains a cinema multiplex and book, record, fashion and trinket shops, a grocery store, a food court and many upscale restaurants.
The Emporium is a popular hub for entertainment, gourmet and education for local residents and visitors. Entertainment offerings include 'SF cinema', an exhibition hall, and children's play centers. The Emporium's many dining options range from chic restaurants like Greyhound Cafe to classic restaurants, an upscale food hall and fast food courts, and include all types of international cuisine.
[edit] Design
The Emporium was designed by J+H Boiffils. The Emporium was their first shopping mall design project in Thailand. They later designed Siam Paragon, another Bangkok shopping mall, for the same developer. The Emporium was Bangkok’s first luxury lifestyle mall offering venues for upscale shopping, dining and entertainment, and supermarket in one complex. With the launch of the Bangkok sky train system several years later, The Emporium was the first mall to allow direct access from the skytrain station into the mall, allowing customers to enter easily and conveniently.
[edit] Emporium 2
A second branch is currently under construction on the opposite of the road.
