The Irish Legal 100 is an annual list created by The Irish Voice Newspaper [1] to honor the Irish is the legal profession internationally. Hundreds are nominated each year for their dedication and superior achievements in the legal profession; all are dedicated to their Irish heritage. Says Niall O'Dowd , founding publisher of The Irish Voice Newspaper, about the Irish Legal 100:

Attorney Dougherty is a Founding Director of The Irish American Museum of Washington, DC; President of The Wild Geese and Vice-President of The Greenwich Hibernian Association. Coughlin earned his law degree at Suffolk University Law School in Boston by attending night classes. At Suffolk, he was honored with the American Jurisprudence Award for Excellence in Contract Law. Mr. Coughlin contributed as an editor and researcher for Professor and the Honorable Benjamin Kaplan’s "An Unhurried View of Copyright in a Hurried World, Republished, and with Contributions from Friends," (published by LexisNexis 2005). (This is the most cited copyright treatise used by the U.S. Supreme Court.) Coughlin’s paternal grandparents hailed from counties Cork and Waterford. His grandfather Patrick changed his name from “Coughlan” to “Coughlin” at Ellis Island. His grandparents eventually met in Chicago, and Patrick Coughlin, a WWI Veteran and a police officer for more than 45 years, would often leave groceries and clothes outside neighborhood homes the Great Depression. This quiet generosity, and Patrick’s love of storytelling, were among the many qualities that made him a role model and hero for his grandson David. It was through Patrick’s stories that Coughlin grew to know and cherish his Irish ancestry. Coughlin lives in a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts with his Wife and two daughters where he is involved in the community as a member of the Rotary Club and other organizations.
