The Retroist is an independent, community based blog that focuses on news, reviews and nostalgia pieces on anything and everything retro.[2]

History[edit]

The site was started on January 23, 2007 as a casual blog, with one post a week. It eventually grew into a daily blog as people began to form a community and contribute to the site. In addition to the blog and podcast, the site also hosts a very tight forum community and a growing collection of classic video game reviews.

The Retroist has written pop culture pieces for UGO.com. These posts went deep into the secondary material for popular characters and were often titles "The Further Adventures of..."

It has been mentioned in other blogs. Kotaku, I09. Star Wars.com, Gizmodo, Metafilter and many others.

The Retroist Podcast[edit]

On March 24, 2009 the Retroist Podcast was launched as part of the site. It has had interview with such stars as Zach Galligan, Heather Langenkamp, Patrick Duffy, Janet Waldo and more. The show is largely a solo endeavor but Jonathan Johnson from Rotting Flesh Radio has helped out in the past as well as British Musician and DJ, Peachy of Pixel8 fame. The show's format is informational with the occasional retro soundbite or musical piece.
