"The Sting" is a song by Australian recording artist Gabriella Cilmi. It was released as the lead single from her third studio album The Sting on 2 September 2013 on digital download format. The cover for the single depicts Cilmi in front of a field surrounded by flowers.

Teaming up with Benjamin Weaver and Eliot James to write the song, Cilmi recorded a new hit-song to introduce her latest album The Sting on 4 November 2013. A music video was released on 17 July 2013 on Vevo, it was shot in a church London.

"The Sting" was co-written by Eliot James and Benjamin Weaver, and was produced by Eliot James. It is an enercig pop song far from the naive Lessons To Be Learned-ish songs, and from the sexy sophomore image from her Ten album.

About this Ten album, Cilmi explains the song The Sting follows the experience she had with her sexual image and her FHM. She says “It’s about karma- I think the more we try to run away from trouble"
