The War is Over (French: La Guerre est Finie) is a French drama film about a leftist in Franco's Spain, directed by Alain Resnais and starring Yves Montand, Ingrid Thulin, and Geneviève Bujold.[1]

Plot[edit]

The matured Spanish revolutionary Diego once dedicated his life to fighting the Franco regime but meanwhile he has lost his faith in revolution. When he meets three young revolutionaries who plan an armed attack against the common enemy, he tries to convince them to stand back from this kind of action. Unfortunately police finds out who he really is. His lover Marianne attempts to warn him on time.

Accolades[edit]

The film was nominated for an Academy Award for its script and won the New York Film Critics Circle award for Best Foreign Language Film.
