"The Weekend" is a single released by Michael Gray in 2004. It was released in the UK in November 2004. It debuted and peaked at Number 7 in the UK charts, was number 1 in Poland and Top 10 in Australia. The main singer is Shena.
The song adapts the line "I can't wait for Saturday to begin" from Get Down Saturday Night by Oliver Cheatham, who is co-credited as a writer.
The four dancers in the video are Sarah Merry, Jodie Leigh, Ideta Kimso and Laura Muncey.
The song is used in both Grand Theft Auto games The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony, heard on the in-game radio station Vladivostok FM. The lead synth of this song can also be heard in the song "Back at Ya", by Kerr. The lead is a replayed sample from this track.
