Ticket summit

Ticket Summit is an annual trade show and conference for the ticket and live entertainment industries.[1] It is attended by ticket sellers, wholesalers, software companies, venue managers, box office managers, professional sports executives, live entertainment producers, and event promoters. The Ticket Summit conference and trade show hosts two events per year: a winter conference in New York, New York and a summer conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.

[edit] Early Years (2006-2008)

From 2006-2008, one Ticket Summit was held each year. The first Ticket Summit took place on July 19–20, 2006 in Las Vegas.[2] The following year, the second Ticket Summit Vegas occurred on July 17–19, 2007. Fred Rosen, former Chief Executive Officer of Ticketmaster, delivered the keynote speech.[3]

Representatives for eBay, an online auction and shopping web site,[4] Google, a public company specializing in Internet search and online advertising,[5] StubHub, an online Web site for ticket buyers and sellers,[6] and TicketNetwork, a software company and online marketplace for ticket brokers,[7] were also present at the event. Stand-up comedian Louie Anderson provided live entertainment.[8]

[edit] First Biannual Ticket Summit (2009)

Starting in 2009,[9] Ticket Summit grew to be a biannual event, with its winter conference in New York City and its summer conference in Las Vegas.[10] Speakers at Ticket Summit NYC 2009 included Dustin Brighton, Senior Manager of Government Relations at eBay, Greg Bettinelli, Executive Vice President of Live Nation, and Joe Freeman, Senior Vice President of Ticketmaster.[11] The following summer, the trade show returned to The Venetian Resort, Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.[12]

[edit] New York event (January 2010)

Ticket Summit 2010 NYC took place on January 13–15, 2010 at the Waldorf=Astoria in New York.[13] One of the keynote speakers was Sean Moriarty, the former CEO of Ticketmaster.[14] Exhibitors included Acronym Media, Marketwire, the NHL, and TicketSizzle.[15] After the main networking events, the Closing Gala took place at Nikki Beach.[16]

[edit] Las Vegas event (July 2010)

Ticket Summit 2010 Vegas took place on July 14–16, 2010 at the Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Networking was an integral aspect of the conference, and participants came from America, the UK, Canada, and international companies.[17] Starting with a Networking Cocktail Party on July 14, the schedule included the 2nd Annual Enterprise Awards and best practice sessions for the ticket industry.[18]

On July 15, a Legal Issues panel session discussed legal trends within the primary and secondary ticket markets.[19] As a sponsor, TicketSizzle.com hosted the Vendors' Cocktail Reception.[20] The conference schedule focused on topics that affect the ticket industry, such as legal issues, marketing, sports tickets, and ticketing innovations.[21] Keynote speakers included Joe Cohen, CEO of Seatwave, and Cristopher Miller, Head of Sales and Partnerships at viagogo.[22]

Blue Man Group, V Theater, Billboard, and other entertainment and ticket companies sponsored the event.[23] There was also an exhibit hall, where companies like TicketSizzle, Acronym Media, and List Easy set up booths.[24] On July 16, 2010, the Ticket Summit Vegas Closing Gala took place at TAO nightclub.

[edit] First Ticket Summit After Dark

Ticket Summit 2011 NYC took place on January 12-14, 2011 at the Waldorf=Astoria in New York.[25] Hundreds of people attended the event, including professionals from Google, Adaptive Marketing, LLC, StubHub, Madison Square Garden, Billy Elliot, and many other companies.[26]

For the first time, Ticket Summit included two separate schedules. The daytime schedule[27] included a number of panels, keynote sessions, and exhibit hall hours. The Ticket Summit After Dark schedule [28] focused on evening social networking events, such as a Pub Crawl and a Closing Gala at Nikki Beach.[29]

[edit] Las Vegas event (July 2011)

The 2011 Ticket Summit Vegas conference took place on July 13-15, 2011 at The Venetian Resort, Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.[30] The three-day conference was composed of panel and training sessions, and the concurrent trade show features exhibitors from many aspects of the ticket industry.[31] Several hundred people attended the event, including professionals from Facebook, Broadway.com, NHL, NFL, and MLB.[32]

The event schedule[33] included the Third Annual Enterprise Awards.[34] The awards ceremony recognized the excellence of professionals that have made notable contributions to the ticket industry.

At the Ticket Summit trade show, exhibitors included RocketPoster, buySAFE, ListEasy, V Theater, and other companies.[35] Speakers included Fred Rosen, former CEO of TicketMaster, TicketMasters: The Rise of the Concert Industry and How the Public Got Scalped authors Dean Budnik and Josh Baron, John Walker of Tickets.com, Don Vaccaro, CEO of TicketNetwork, and Bill Guertin, author of the 800 Pound Gorilla of Sales. [36] Scheduled panel sessions included The Vegas Box Office, On Consumer Expectations, Pro Marketing Strategies, and two keynote sessions.[37]

Ticket Summit 2011 Vegas will conclude with a Closing Gala.[38]

[edit] New York (January 2012)

The 2012 Ticket Summit will take place at The Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York on January 18-20, 2012. The three-day event will include industry seminars, a concurrent trade show, and networking opportunities for ticketing and live entertainment professionals.

Scheduled panel sessions include State of the Box Office, Web 2.0 Marketing Strategies, Sports & Venues, Legislative Preview, Consumer Ticketing Issues, and The Hispanic Ticket Market.[39]

The trade show will be held in the Grand Ballroom of The Waldorf=Astoria. Exhibitors will include Mobile Ticket App, FanXchange, and other companies. The show is currently building its roster of speakers, including its keynote sessions.
