Tiger (?-1975) was a mixed-breed dog and animal actor owned by Lou Schumacher and trained by Joe Hornok.

Career

Tiger appeared in one episode of the American television situation comedy The Brady Bunch, produced by ABC. During the taping of the episode "Katchoo" during the first season, the dog actor who had been playing the character of "Tiger" was killed by an automobile. The dog's trainer got a similar-looking dog from the pound; he appeared in one scene of the episode "Katchoo," and several other episodes, but the character of Tiger was subsequently written out of the show, as the untrained replacement proved difficult to work with. However, the replacement dog actor was given the name "Tiger" and went on to have more film and TV credits than the original. (The reason the dog house remained on the Brady Bunch set was that it covered up a burn hole in the astroturf made from a falling light.)

Tiger had a starring role in the 1974 tongue in cheek post-apocalyptic science fiction film A Boy and His Dog alongside Don Johnson, in which he helped his owner forage for women and also was telepathic and communicated with his owner with sarcastic and intelligent wit. Tiger was voiced in that film by veteran actor Tim McIntire. Tiger died soon after the making of this film, yet remains famous as the film gathered a cult following.
