[edit] Early years

Born in England, in the city of Exeter, Devon, Shaw moved with his family to the United States when he was a child.

Shaw was the 2001 Michigan Gatorade Player-of-the-Year while playing tailback and linebacker for coach Greg Hudkins at Clarenceville High School in Livonia, Michigan.

At the time of his graduation, he held the Michigan high school records for career rushing yards (7,611) and career touchdowns (131), records since surpassed by East Grand Rapids High School's Kevin Grady.

He earned 11 letters in football, basketball and track and field. He was the Michigan state 100-meter dash champion his junior year.

[edit] College career

A 2006 Academic All-American,[1] and standout linebacker at Penn State University, he has won the team's Frank Patrick and Jim O'Hora awards for his efforts on the football field.

He earned his Bachelor's degree in management from Penn State University in May 2006. He was twice named Academic All-Big Ten Conference.

[edit] Professional career

[edit] Carolina Panthers

In the 2007 NFL Draft, Shaw was drafted in the 5th round by the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers signed him to a four-year contract on July 25, 2007. The Panthers waived Shaw on August 30, 2008.

[edit] Jacksonville Jaguars

Shaw was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars on November 26, 2008, and appeared in three games for the Jaguars that season. He spent the 2009 preseason in Jacksonville's camp before being released on September 5, 2009.[2]

[edit] Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears reportedly showed interest in signing Shaw after opening-week injuries to linebackers Brian Urlacher and Pisa Tinoisamoa seriously depleted their linebacking corps.[2] He was signed by the Bears on September 14. Shaw set a club record for special teams tackles with 30 after an 8 tackle performance with a forced fumble and recovery against the Detroit Lions (Jan 3, 2010).[3] On January 27, 2010, the USA Today announced that Shaw had made its All-Joe Team, honoring the NFL's unsung and underrated players. [1]

[edit] Tennessee Titans

On September 5, 2010, Shaw was claimed off waivers by the Tennessee Titans.

[edit] Personal

Shaw is close friends with Oakland Raiders tight end Kevin Boss.[4] The two are represented by the same firm, XAM Sports, and were roommates while training in Florida prior to the 2007 NFL Draft.[4] Shaw attended Boss' July 4, 2009, wedding.[4]

Shaw is reportedly a Jigsaw puzzle enthusiast.[4]
