[edit] History
The earliest publisher to eventually become part of the Hachette book Group was Little, Brown and Company, founded in 1837, acquired by Time Inc. in 1968. Time merged with Warner Communications to form Time Warner in 1989; Warner Communications had acquired the Paperback Library in 1970. Publisher Macdonald & Co. was bought in 1992 to become part of the Time Warner Book Group UK, and in 1996 the various branches merged to become Time Warner Trade Publishing, later renamed to Time Warner Book Group, renamed the Hachette Book Group USA after being acquired by Hachette Livre.
Several imprints were generated after the year 2000; Warner Faith was launched in 2001 (later renamed FaithWords) aimed at a Christian audience; 5 Spot and LB Kids in 2005 were aimed at younger readers, and in 2006 Warner Wellness (renamed Wellness Central in 2007) and Springboard Press were launched, directed toward health publications and baby boomers respectively. In 2007 Warner Books was renamed Grand Central Publishing, and several the business imprints were renamed from Warner Business Books to Business Plus. Three new imprints were also launched: Yen Press, Orbit Books and Poppy, publishing manga, science-fiction, and fantasy/teen fiction respectively.[1] and other affiliated sites.
