Tom’s Hardware is an online publication focused on technology that was founded in 1996 by German doctor[2] Dr. Thomas Pabst. Tom's Hardware is owned by Bestofmedia Group company, currently one of the top three online publishers for technology in the world.[3]

Tom's Hardware provides articles, news, price comparisons, videos and reviews on computer hardware and high technology. The site features coverage on CPUs, motherboards, RAM, graphics and displays, storage, and computer peripherals. Tom's Hardware has a forum and featured blogs. A unique aspect of Tom's Hardware is the "Build your Own" section where readers can learn how to build their own computers. It is published in several languages.

  • September 1996 – Pair alliance; cooperation with the ISP Pair, USA.
  • October 1996 – First advertising customers.
  • January 1997 – Reaches more than one million page impressions per month.
  • March 1997 – The New York Times reports that Intel withdraws its unsuccessful attempt to influence Tom's Hardware and other media publications. Several Intel executives violated their own company's policy by threatening to withdraw advertising due to unflattering and unauthorized media product reviews.[5]
  • June 1997 – American Megatrends book the site for $10,000 per month.
  • September 1997 – IBM becomes advertising partner for the company.
  • November 1997 – Own chat forum.[6]
  • February 1998 – Start of the company’s international sites.
  • August 1998 – The company publishes a hardware book in cooperation with Macmillan (print run: 30,000).[7]

  • June 2007 – Partnership with John Wiley & Sons to deliver the Universal Command Guide for Operating Systems online.[25]
  • June 2007 – Antoine Boulin appointed CEO of TG Publishing LLC, a Bestofmedia Group company.[26]
