Parker is currently a travel journalist on the Discovery Channel's 5 Takes program. He grew up in Walnut Creek, California, a suburb of San Francisco. He currently lives in Los Angeles, California.

Parker describes himself as "an actor/artist/photographer/writer/traveler/adventurer/world-culture enthusiast/all-around "Renaissance Man" kind of guy. (And the definition continues to get longer and more complicated as time goes by!)" [1]
