[edit] Biography

Like current and former members of Mushroomhead, Schmitz was a part of local Cleveland band Trelleborg, in which he played bass.

Tom plays the keyboards. Shmotz wears a mask with goggles and a US military-style helmet on it. The mask is a reflection of the x-face, while the helmet and goggles were chosen due to a similarity to his previous "dead" (the black mask era) mask where he wore a black helmet like hat with a pair of welding goggles holding it on just over the brim, and then had the goggle lenses fixed to his face in the Savior Sorrow version of the mask. However, he has recently undergone a transformation as seen in the video for "Your Soul Is Mine." He has abandoned the helmet and goggles, for a beefier and shiny metallic skinned appearance. At the Beautiful Stories for Ugly Children era he changed his mask to a yellow one with a black X-Face and a pair of photographic lenses. He now wears a spiked German military style helmet.
