Gaetano Augustus Vicini Jr. (born Feb, 1, 1965) (Nicknamed, Tom or Tommy) is an American actor known for his portrayal of the Hamburglar character in McDonald's television commercials. Vicini was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Gaetano Vicini Sr. of Italian, Sicilian descent settled in America in 1947 at the age of 19 after World War II, and his Mother, Mary Rose Emanuele was of Sicilian, Prussian decent. Vicini 's also has three siblings, Annamaria, Lorenzo and Vivian. Vicini's Grandfather Anthony Emanuele, was an actor, comedian known as "Tony King" in the 1930s whose partner was famed Psycho author Robert Bloch. Vicini began his acting career as a child appearing in The Milwaukee Player's off Broadway production of “Oliver!” in 1975, and Director Nagle Jackson’s stage adaptation of A Christmas Carol by The Milwaukee Repertory Theater in 1976. Vicini played Tiny Tim for 24 sold out performances alongside G. Wood from the movie M.A.S.H. in 1976. Vicini was the National Hamburglar performing at special events, NBA basketball games, White House appearances, private appearances and conventions etc. from 1981 to 1991-92. In 1992, Vicini played the Television Hamburglar and relocated Tommy to Hollywood, California. Tommy remained playing the Hamburglar until the mcDonaldland characters were phased out in order to elevate the "I'm lovin' it" campaign. Several of Vicini's post Hamburglar credits include Playing the Crypt Keeper in the Tales from the Crypt film Demon Knight, Star Trek: Insurrection. The Amityville HorrorTransformers 1 & 3.
