'TrueCombat (also known as TC) is a modification to first-person shooter Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Developed by "Team Terminator" and Studio Groove Six, the modification is freeware available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. While Wolfenstein Enemy Territory takes place during World War II, TrueCombat modernizes all aesthetic elements of the game. In 2009 official development for the mod decreased without any official notice. TrueCombat developer "Coroner" posted on March 21, 2010, that a new TrueCombat mod named TC:Close Quarter Battles is being produced. On March 31, 2011, the first public alpha of TrueCombat:CQB was released to the public. Three patches have been released since then.

[edit] Gameplay

  • Objective (Obj)Each player is deployed once per round. As a terrorist, one aims to arm a bomb or defeat all special operatives before a specific time period expires. As a special operative, one aims to prevent the terrorists from achieving their goals by killing all the terrorists or disarming their bomb.
  • Body Count (BC)Deployment comes in 10 second increments. Players that have been killed prior to a deployment are continuously redeployed. The game concludes at the expiration of a set period of time.
  • Capture The Flag (CTF, R-Obj) CTF simulates the game of capture the flag: teams try to bring a flag back to their base from across the map.. R-Obj is slightly different. In R-obj (known as Reinforced Objective) the goal is to capture as many areas (marked by flags) as possible before the time limit, or the elimination of either team.

[edit] TrueCombat:Elite

Playing game in Obj_Village.

TrueCombat:Elite pits two teams against each other, the Terrorists and the Counter-Terrorists. Weapon availability depends on what side you're on and what class you have selected. There are three classes, Assault, Recon and Sniper. The Assault class get assault rifles and are basically standard infantryman. The Recon class uses light weapons such as submachine guns. The Sniper class gets long range weaponry to take out enemies from afar. The game attempts to stimulate realism as much as possible. Unlike most shooters, there is no crosshair on the screen. To aim accurately you must aim down the sights. The player can lean around corners and while walking. The game implements 'AA' or armament availability to decide what weapons will be available to you, based on your performance. Poor performance will get you only basic weapons, good performance will get you a larger variety of weapons. Gameplay is entirely online, though the player may add computer controlled bots to play offline.

[edit] TrueCombat:CQB

Gameplay in CQB is similar to TC:E. Players can still lean around corners and there is still no crosshair in the center of the screen. However, CQB has disposed of Armament Availability and will offer all weapons available to players, regardless of their skill level. CQB also adds new features including HDR lighting, a freelook system (players may look somewhere else independently of their weapon and movement direction) a weapon modification system (such as adding a suppressor or a scope) and a perk system. However, TrueCombat:CQB does not have TC:E's map variety due to it still being in an Alpha stage. CQB is also is entirely online, though the player may still choose to add bots to play offline.
