First Army (Turkey)

The Turkish First Army (Turkish: Birinci Ordu) is one of the total four army groups of Turkish Army. Its headquarters is located at Selimiye Barracks in Istanbul. It guards the sensitive borders of Turkey with Greece and Bulgaria, including the straits Bosporus and Dardanelles. The First Army is stationed in Eastern Thrace.

In 1974 it consisted of four corps, the II Corps (Gelibou), III Corps (Istanbul), V Corps (Corlu) and XV Corps (Izmit). (British Military Attaches' Reports via Public Records Office, Kew)
