Tussar, Tushar, Tassar, Tusser or simply Bhagalpur Silk is a kind of silk produced mostly in Bhagalpur [1][2] and Jharkhand, in India. Tussar Sarees in Bhagalpur, and Baluchari sarees in Bishnupur are made from this silk.
Apart from sarees, Tussar Silk is also used to make other garments such as salwar-kameez, lehenga, dupatta, achkan, shirts and jackets. It lends itself beautifully to printing and painting, and is being increasingly used in designer boutique.
