Joe Gqabi District Municipality (formerly Ukhahlamba District Municipality) is one of the 7 districts of Eastern Cape province of South Africa. The seat of Joe Gqabi is Barkly East. The majority of its 341 337 people speak IsiXhosa (2001 Census). The district code is DC14. Before 18 May 2011 it was known as the Ukhahlamba District Municipality.
