UniquePhones is a cell phone unlocking provider founded in 2002 and headquartered in New York City. (One report says that the company is based in Belfast, Northern Ireland.)
[edit] History
In 2002, UniquePhones claimed to be the first company to offer instant unlocking services online. This service was mainly for Nokia handsets, with a reported (unverified) 25,000 handsets being unlocked per day. This service ended in 2005.
In mid-August 2007, UniquePhones announced an unlocking service for the iPhone, only to retract this service the following week after receiving a phone call from a lawyer representing AT&T.[1]
It has been disputed that UniquePhones actually had an unlock solution for the iPhone.
