Status[edit]

The position of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary is currently vacant as of 2015. President Barack Obama nominated John L. Estrada, the 15th Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps and a native of Trinidad and Tobago, for the role on July 30, 2013.[1] The United States Senate did not act upon the nomination. Obama renominated Estrada on January 6, 2014.[2]
