Texas District 3 of the United States House of Representatives is a Congressional district that serves a suburban area north and northeast of Dallas. It encompasses a large portion of Collin County including McKinney, Plano, and Frisco, and the northeast corner of Dallas County including parts of Garland and Rowlett. As of the 2000 census, District 3 represents 651,620 people who are predominantly Caucasian (76.7%) and middle-to-upper-class (median family income is US$74,314, compared to $50,046 nationwide). The current Representative from District 3 is Sam Johnson and has been since 1991.
