Background [edit]

Jeanne Shaheen was elected with 52% of the vote in 2008. She will be 67 years old in 2014. At the end of 2011, Shaheen had the lowest amount of campaign funds out of any senator up for re-election in 2014, leading some to believe she would not defend her seat. However, her office has confirmed that she will run for re-election.[1]
