United States elections, 1942

The 1942 United States midterm elections were held on November 3, 1942. Incumbent President of the United States Franklin D. Roosevelt and the Democratic Party lost forty-five seats, mostly to the Republican Party, in the House of Representatives. The Democrats also lost eight seats to the Republicans in the U.S. Senate. An Independent also lost a seat to a Republican in the Senate.^[1]
