The 1954 United States midterm elections were held on November 2, 1954. Incumbent President of the United States Dwight D. Eisenhower and the Republican Party lost eighteen seats to the Democratic Party in the House of Representatives, losing control of the chamber. Republicans would not re-take the House until 1994.[1]

The Republicans also lost control of the U.S. Senate, losing two seats to the Democrats.[2] Republicans would not re-take control of the Senate until 1980.[3]
