Dalarna University (Swedish: Högskolan Dalarna) is a university college (högskola) located in Falun and Borlänge, in Dalarna County, Sweden.[1]

Dalarna University is one of Sweden’s more recent institutions of higher education, established in 1977. It is situated in Dalarna, 200 kilometres north-west of Stockholm.

The college currently has about 18000 students.[2] Approximately half of them study in Falun, the administrative capital of the province, while the rest study in the neighbouring town of Borlänge and via distance education.


There are four schools at the University:[3]

  • School of Technology and Business Studies
  • School of Languages and Media Studies
  • School of Health and Social Studies
  • School of Education and Humanities
