University of Maryland, Baltimore County Majors and Programs
The University of Maryland, Baltimore County Majors and Programs include technology oriented and pre-professional programs at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
UMBC's Undergraduate School offers 54 majors and 42 minors and 20 certificate programs in the physical and biological sciences, social and behavioral sciences, engineering, mathematics, information technology, humanities, economics and visual and performing arts.
UMBC's Graduate School offers 33 master's degree programs, 23 doctoral degree programs and 20 graduate certificate programs. Programs are offered in emergency health services, education, engineering, imaging and digital arts, information technology, life sciences, psychology, and public policy.
Computer Science and Electrical Engineering
The Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering contains undergraduate programs in Computer Science and Computer Engineering, and graduate programs in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering. Research laboratories include the:

The department initiated a special track in games, animation and interactive media in conjunction with the Visual Arts Department in 2007.

The Mechanical Engineering department offers ABET-approved B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees, as well as graduate certificates in Fluid Mechanics and Mechatronics. Dr. Panos Charalambides is the head of this department.
The Department of Political Science offers pre-law education and a B.A. program with subfields in American government and politics, comparative politics, international relations, political philosophy, public administration and policy, or public law. Student organizations include the Political Science Council of Majors, Model United Nations, and the Mock Trial team.
The psychology department offers programs leading to B.A., B.S., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees.
The department's graduate program offers degrees in applied behavior analysis, applied developmental psychology, and human services psychology. The graduate program offers concentrations in behavioral medicine, clinical psychology, and community social psychology.
The Department of Public Policy at UMBC offers the M.P.P. (Master's in Public Policy), and the Ph.D. degree. Three research centers are funded by this department:

UMBC's Visual Arts program is pre-professional. Areas of study include Art History & Theory, Graphic Design, Photography, Print Media, Film & Video, Animation, and Interactivity. Prospective students are sometimes required to undergo a portfolio review process for admission.
