"Until the End of Time" is an R&B song performed by Justin Timberlake, and written by Timberlake, Tim Mosley, and Nate Hills. The song was the fifth track to be released from Timberlake's second studio album, FutureSex/LoveSounds.[1] The single version includes the prelude "Set the Mood", which was originally attached to the song "Summer Love", and was re-recorded to feature vocals from Beyonce. In Europe, the song was released as part of a double A-side with Summer Love.

The album version of the song, without vocals from Beyoncé, was released to mainstream radio on June 5, 2007. The single version, with Beyonce's vocals, was released to radio on September 26, 2007. The single was released as a CD single in Germany on December 7, 2007 and was released as a 12-inch single on November 13, 2007.[2][3][4] The song features a slowed down LinnDrum drum machine sample from "Raspberry Beret" by Prince and a string arrangement by Benjamin Wright; there are 12 violins and 8 violas in the song. The music video for "Until the End of Time" is a live performance from Timberlake's 2007 tour, FutureSex/LoveShow.[5]

"Until the End of Time" utilizes Linn drums, which Ben Williams of New York compared to Prince's "The Beautiful Ones".[6]

Quentin B. Huff of PopMatters wrote that "Until the End of Time" is heavily reminiscent of Prince's work.[7] Sputnikmusic's Amanda Murray called the song "excessively bland".[8]

The song has achieved great success on urban and rhythmic U.S. radio stations, and has become Timberlake's second top-five single on the U.S. Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, so far reaching number three. Because of high airplay the song was able to chart as high as number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100, with little help from digital sales, and no music video. After the official duet single with Beyoncé was released, the song picked up in digital sales, and it reached a new peak of #17 on the Hot 100. The song became the sixth U.S. top 20 hit from the FutureSex/LoveSounds album. This is the first time a solo male artist has achieved this since Michael Jackson had six top twenty Hot 100 hits from his Dangerous album from 1991 and 8 top 20 hits from his Bad album from 1987 plus George Michael having six top five Hot 100 hits from his Faith album the same year.[9] The song is now listed as "Justin Timberlake duet with Beyoncé" due to the duet version's airplay overtaking the original. The song also charted in Denmark, New Zealand and Sweden.[10] As at October 6, 2010, Timberlake's solo version of the song had sold 37,000 digital downloads, while the remix with Knowles had sold 271,000 downloads.[11]
