This is a lightly processed dump of the state of the US Federal government's Public Domain GNS database FIPS and country code data, as of 12 April 2005. Characters have been translated, according to the GNS-provided translation tables for each of the six custom fonts used by the GNS, into Unicode, and normalized using Normalization Form NFKC, and numeric-entity-escaped if over 255. Country names have been munged from all-caps ASCII into mixed-case forms using the normal typographic rules, and the accent has been added to "Côte d'Ivoire".
