Al Sgro began his music career at an early age, growing up in central Pennsylvania and playing music at a young age. Arriving in California at 20, he quickly became involved with creating The Hotel Cafe in Hollywood and spent many years touring the world with acts such as Gary Jules (Mad World), Joe Purdy, and Joshua Radin. During that time he shared bills with music heavyweights including Bob Dylan, Cheryl Crow, and Alanis Morisette, and Jack Johnson.

In 2004, he and partner Will Golden opened a small studio in Hollywood and began producing records for some of the Hotel Cafe's burgeoning stars: Gary Jules, Joe Purdy, Meiko, Holly Conlan, and Brian Wright. His productions have been heard in several TV shows, including Grey's Anatomy, One Tree Hill, 90210, LOST, and Ghost Whisperer.

2007 was the construction of a new recording facility in Mid-City Los Angeles. Since then, he's been busy composing for film and TV, most notably three seasons on the on-going TBC/ABC Comedy, Cougar Town. Other entertainment clients include MTV Networks, Olson Advertising, Lifetime TV, ABC's Happy Endings, 72 Future Perfect Music, and Little Ear Music.
