Rebecca Washum was born on October 12th 1988 in Biloxi MS to Michael and Myrna Washum, her mother full Philippino and her father of mainly Scottish ancestry. She lived with five other siblings in a small country community. From an early age she has been painting and drawing, winning local acclaim and presitge. Her work has been self proclaimed surreal and dream oriented with small hints of her own political stand points. She has studied art feilds in school ,but was mainly self-trained in her abilities. Trying her hand at photography, she found the basic, untampered elements fulfilling ,but not creatively feuled enough to appease her need for customization. Even her clothing was often drawn on and she frequently carried a bag that was colored with drawings depicting different sides of her personality. To this day she creates acrylic as well as watercolor paintings, and photographs in the surrealist genre. She has stated that many of her works were inspired by her studies of psychology, the government's situation and social fluctuations. By social standards she was infamous in school for being on the edge of being an outcast and a revolutionary and constantly involved in the conditions of the state of affairs. She made it a day to day matter to be a vigilante of her community often protesting authority figures for biased treatment and unfair rulings. She was also found to be quite the comedian and has been referred to as giggley, high spirited, and somewhat cynical in her approach to matters. In contrast to her work and social standings she is ,at root, a grounded, logical thinker ,but she treats the world as any true thespian would. She stares into the mass and watches their reaction and it undoubtedbly is a wave of applause. Many had misconstrewed her nonserious outlook as being dimwitted ,but in truth just under the surface lay a philosophical thinker and innovator. Rebecca Washum is now persuing a career in comedy and fashion design and sells paintings to fund her recent endeavors. She had pursued a band in which she would have sung lead ,but she was unable to find a group that possesed what she referred to as her "unique element". She is now living and working in the South East undergoing several projects and continuing her education in the arts because "There is always more to learn...". She has also said that she plans to move more outward and intends to see more of what this world has to offer.
