I'm Ben (formerly known as Jebus989✰), a computational biology PhD student at the University of Edinburgh. My main areas of interest are molecular biology, machine learning and computer science, but I primarily edit biological articles. I genuinely believe English Wikipedia, with its 4,679,324 (and counting) articles, is the best thing to have come of the internet to date, and I wish I had more time to contribute to the project.
I'm also interested in helping to increase the participation of scientists and academics in Wikimedia projects, and to this end I helped run my first Wikipedia tutorial at the 2014 ISMB conference. I also attended a "train the trainers" event run by Wikimedia UK and so am able and willing to assist with Wikimedia-related events in the UK.
I publish the R code and data sources of graphical figures I create here; if you have a dataset you'd like visualised for use on any Wikimedia project, I'd be happy to put something together. Occasionally I'll write something Wikipedia-related on my blog.
