User:Blackngold29 a college student in Butler, Pennsylvania, where he was born and raised. He has very eclectic interests, ranging from listening to Slipknot to watching Ken Burns documentaries. He spends way too much time on Wikipedia, which he joined in April 2006. He averaged 3.1 edits per month until January 2008, at which point he realized what he had been missing out on. He contributes more through writing and expanding articles than reviewing them, although does recognize that all aspects need contributers.

Blackngold29 is an avid supporter of all Pittsburgh sports teams, from which he takes his name. His favorite sport is baseball, which, in part, stems from the Florentine Films documentary which he found at his local library—one of his favorite places to go. He has an odd interest in quotes about anything, which he usually includes in the articles he writes, and CGI cavemen. His favorite Wikipedia policies are Verifiablity and Neutral point of view; although the abolition of non-free content is catching up. On occasion he will write about himself in the third person.

[edit] My views

There is no certainty, only opportunity.

V, V for Vendetta

This is where I babble on about how WP has changed my life, but you'll probably never read it; although I have read other people's pages, so maybe you're a loser with nothing more constructive to do in your time on the planet Earth than sit around reading about complete strangers and their doings. I think that Wikipedia is a great website (would I be here if it sucked?), I use it for reference daily. The more I have used it, however, the more vandalism I have discovered. I think that is unfortunate and do not understand why people take time out of their day to purposely lessen the works of their fellow man.

The journey is what brings us happiness, not the destination.

Peaceful Warrior

I contribute to Wikipedia because I have learned many things here and I hope that I can help someone learn through my contributions. The best thing that one can do while adding any info to WP is cite a reliable source, even if its just a url. Good sources are a strong point on WP and will not only improve the quality of the article, but it will also give future editors an additional source to refer to while improving the article. Writing prose for WP has improved my writing skills by...I don't know how much (serisously, I have no clue; though I did get an A in my last English class).

[edit] Projects

The following is a list of articles, to which I have contributed. I base the "Big" or "Small" project classification on the amount of time I spend with the article. However, a "significant contribution" is based on the amount of material that I wrote, compared to the whole of the article. I spend most of my time on my "Ongoing Upkeep" articles, which usually require weekly, and sometimes daily, updates. I have contributed to a wide range of articles, including significant contributions to a person, every major league Pittsburgh sports stadium, a sports season, and a few albums. I would like to get a movie, book, and a video game up to GA status eventually, any suggestions in these (or another catagory I haven't done) are welcome. I keep the following list mostly for personal reference.

Key
  • Re-write - Take current info, and re-write with better structure and grammar
  • Overhaul - Completely re-write and re-stucture article, adding (usually a lot) new info

If articles were pots, this is what I might look like while creating them (In fifty years). *Shaker-like perfection not guarenteed.

Users I've worked with

I give out Barnstars, but not lightly; you've got to earn it. The following users were very helpful with projects I've worked on (but I have given very few barnstars).

[edit] WikiProjects

I am a strong supporter of WikiProjects, I feel that when WikiProjects are organized and goals are set within, articles can be improved quicker and more accurately than without them. I try to limit the amount of projects that I join, so that I have a substantial amount of time to contribute to all of them.

[edit] Sandbox

  • My primary sandbox is usually filled with various unrelated items, and is quite a mess. I use it for my overhauls and other temporary stuff.
  • My long-term sandbox is used to store stuff that I need rarely, but are too much of a pain to re-make each time I need them.
  • This one is used for various Pittsburgh sports related articles, since I tend to do a lot.
