My name is Chelsea B. I am currently in my senior year of attending Ohio University, Athens branch. I am working towards my major in Child and Family Studies with a psychology minor. I am currently working at a chemical dependency rehabilitation center. I am interested in working with the adolescent age group because I feel that society has a bit of a negative view on this age group. I feel this is a time when changes are happening in all aspects of life from physical, emotional, social, coping, fitting in, dating, authority, finding a voice, detachment from parents, etc. What a greater time in life than this, I think. I started out thinking that I wanted to work as a guidance counselor within a high school system so I want to see where that takes me but I am not going to limit myself to that one thought. Already I have been wakened to chemical dependency and it is an area that interests me as well. I am trying to work on my senior year internship which has yet to be decided. After that will come my resume building and job searching. I would like to move out of Ohio and experience the world and all it has to offer!

about me[edit]

I am the youngest of three and from Columbus, Ohio. I attended High School at Westland High School. I was a member of the marching band all four years where I played the flute and was drum major my senior year. My siblings are older, living their lives, all moved out, and happy. I am on my way to doing the same. I am one to find comfort in a cup of coffee, a great movie, or a long drive. I don't mind the fast pace of life but I would prefer to slow down at some point in the future. I like being young, wild, and free. I love the optimism of not knowing what is going to happen but knowing that whatever it is will be great!

Student Life[edit]

Being a student has been a great experience for me. I have learned how to balance my fun around my work. One of the biggest lessons I have learned is to live with others, particularly those who were unknown. I have had ups and downs with grades and learned that the letter is just a letter but what I take away is what will be with me. I love quarters, hate semesters. I am fortunate to have kept a job for two years out of the four. It is all one big juggling act. There have been classes I would say have been useless and others that have flipped my world upside down and given me a new perspective. It has been fun being on campus and living in such a lifestyle that is unique. I love the town of Athens, it is rich in culture and opportunities. I would call Ohio U. my home away from home. Graduation is right around the corner and I am scared to death to think of where I will be in the next year. My whole life has revolved around school and now that I am coming to a close, I hope the future is kind. Being a student has allowed me to experience all of the campus events and traditions that I know will continue long after I am gone. It has been a slice of real life with having to manage everything on my own, to make my own decisions, and follow the consequences that follow. Student life has been a mixture of work, work, work, but having fun with all the moments in between!
